Ilana (they/them) explores the limitations and boundless interpretations of social dynamics within images and western societies visual language.
Discussing topics such as gender, patriarchy and beauty, the Artist uses their body to answer questions about the inherited social scripts that interfere with our truth and autonomy.
With an emphasis on photography, Ilana explores street art and graffiti as a way to participate in active conversation with large scale capitalism, who use images as propaganda, profiting off of systemic oppression.

To know love we have to tell the truth to ourselves and to others. Creating a false self to mask fears and insecurities has become so common that many of us forget who we are and what we feel underneath the pretense. When an individual has always lied, they have no awareness that truth telling can take away this heavy burden. To know this they must let the lies go.
